Do Pneumatic Cylinders Need Oil?

Importance of pneumatic cylinders lubrication

The pneumatic cylinders lubrication system of an internal combustion engine is a very critical component, which greatly affects the performance and life of the internal combustion engine. Due to the high temperature and pressure inside the cylinder, friction and wear will occur between cylinder parts, and insufficient lubrication will lead to internal combustion engine failure. Therefore, the use of cylinder lubricants is critical to the efficiency and longevity of the internal combustion engine.

With regard to cylinder lubrication, oil lubricated cylinders should be equipped with oil misters with proper flow rates. Cylinders without oil lubrication can be used for long periods of time because the cylinders are pre-lubricated with grease. This type of cylinder can also be lubricated with oil, but once lubricated, it cannot be stopped. Since the pre-lubricated grease may have been flushed out, failure to lubricate will result in poor cylinder operation. The oil should be No. 1 turbine oil (Iso VG32), and should not be used as motor oil, spindle oil, etc., so that NBR and other seals are not absorbed.

The role of cylinder lubrication

Cylinder lubrication mainly plays the following roles:

1. Reduce friction: lubricant can form a layer of lubrication film between the cylinder wall and piston to reduce friction and wear, thus reducing energy loss and improving the efficiency of the internal combustion engine.

2. Cooling: the flow of lubricant can take away some heat and reduce the temperature inside the cylinder, thus achieving the effect of cooling.

3. Cleaning: lubricating oil can also clean the cylinder wall and piston, remove carbon and impurities, keep the cylinder wall smooth.

4. Anti-corrosion: lubricating oil added rust and corrosion inhibitor, can prevent rust and corrosion of the internal parts of the cylinder.

The use of cylinder lubrication

Cylinder lubrication is mainly used in automobiles, generator sets, ships and industrial machinery and other internal combustion engines. In automotive internal combustion engines, lubricating oil is pressed onto the lubricating oil circuit through an oil pump, and then flows into the inside of the cylinder after being filtered by a filter cartridge to form a thin film that maintains the clearance between the piston and the cylinder wall. In generating sets and ships, the cooling and lubrication systems are interdependent and ensure proper operation of the internal combustion engine through fluid exchange.

Conclusion

Cylinder lubrication is an important part of the work of an internal combustion engine to reduce friction, cool, clean and prevent corrosion. Through the introduction of this article, you can better understand the role and use of cylinder lubrication, so as to better carry out the maintenance of internal combustion engines.
